With minimal downtime, ether for the 2nd rewards phase is now located in the treasury account in preparation for next weeks rewards phase.
Details on how to participate in next week rewards period are available here.
It is important that you read and understand the instructions posted in order to claim your ÐICE rewards next week. It is the sole responsibility of the ÐICE token holder to follow the instructions and steps outlined in the link above in order to claim any and all ÐICE rewards. ÐICE rewards rely entirely on the ÐICE token holders participation. Without the ÐICE token holders participation, rewards for those ÐICE tokens are forfeit. No exceptions.
1,111.069147281031152130 ether was moved from the game contract into the treasury holding account in preparation for next weeks 100% distribution to ÐICE token holders.
We look forward to next week being a successful rewards phase and we would like to extend a big thank you to all of the supporters in the community that have helped make this another very successful (2nd) quarter for Etheroll.
Following on from our previous post the upgrade and migration to our gas optimized contract is now complete and in production mode. The updated and verified game contract address is: https://etherscan.io/address/0xd91e45416bfbbec6e2d1ae4ac83b788a21acf583
1) ~42% gas savings on internal costs
2) ~14% gas savings for player
You will need to clear your browser cache in order to see the updates
In order for you to be able to interact with the updated contract, please make sure to first clear your browser cache. You can clear your cache in Mist via right click > Inspect element > ‘Network’ tab > check ‘Disable cache’ option, close the box and then right click the page > reload.
All funds have been safely and successfully migrated from the previous contract into the updated contract.
Today, we have some good news. Our gas optimized contracts are now ready for deployment. We have been working with our development partners to make this happen and are very excited to finally be able to announce that we are now ready to migrate over to the new gas optimized contracts.
1) ~42% gas savings on internal costs
2) ~14% gas savings for player
For this transition to happen smoothly we are going to suspend game play on our current contract in order for us to migrate our game stats over into the new contract accurately.
We won’t give exact timings on all of this but don’t be surprised if you see the game is paused after reading this post and/or over the next 24 hours or so, it just means we are working on the migration.
We will post a formal announcement once the migration has been completed.
Rewards Phase 2
With only 11 days remaining until the next rewards phase, DICE holders can read learn how to participate in Rewards Phase 2 today at rewards.etheroll.com. We will be publishing full and detailed separate posts on this subject to our blogs and reddit over the next 48-72 hours so everybody is clear on how to participate.
Mist Browser 0.9.0 Support
You can now play Etheroll using the latest version of Mist (v0.9.0). We are delighted that our players can now roll the dice using the latest version of Mist browser. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend checking out Mist (v0.9.0), which now also includes Swarm functionality and many other handy new features.
Improvements to our page load speed were also rolled out in this update. Players should notice that our game now loads with significantly less ‘hang-time’.
If you were already using Mist v0.9.0 clear your browser cache and reload our page and you should be good to go. Older versions of Mist <0.9.0 are still supported.
Gas Improvements (a work in progress)
We anticipated deployment of gas improvements into production by now however we were a little ahead of ourselves and are still working on the implementation of gas improvements to the core game contract with our development partners.
Testing of the gas improved contracts has begun on Ropsten testnet however we are moving over to the Rinkeby testnet for further testing and refinement before deploying the improved contracts into a production environment. Initial testing shows good results with significant savings in gas costs. We will be publishing the numbers as we get closer to a production deployment for this update.
We are still focused on delivering gas improvements to our contract in the coming weeks, albeit behind schedule.
After being live for just ~14 weeks with a limited bankroll in soft-launch phase Etheroll has seen over 145,000 ether wagered on its dice game platform over an impressive ~90,000 individual rolls.
Needless to say Etheroll is now the most popular Ethereum dice gaming platform in the world. No wonder really. No deposits, no sign-ups, a low 1% house-edge – players just love our game!
Following on from the success of our crucial 1st rewards period, we are currently working on implementing the following improvements to the platform over the course of the next ~3 months:
- Increased Bankroll
The bankroll has just increased by 2500 ether to a massive 5000+ ether. We will continue to up the ante as time moves forward.
- Reduced Gas Costs
We were aiming to have this out before the 1st rewards period but network-wide issues and unforeseen circumstances affected day-to-day operations which had flow on effects into development time. We have however been working together with our development partners to get this functionality in place and we are working on this as priority right now for a live release soon. Expect to see significant savings in gas costs for the house with this new release.
Progress: 50%. Development focus for the next 2-3 weeks.
- Site Rebuild
Our extremely talented front-end developer has now ported the site into Angular. What does this mean? Extensibility. This has not been a quick process. Developers are brand new to Web3/Ethereum and learning how smart-contracts interact with web clients is a very nuanced operation so there has been a lot of teachings and learnings in bringing on a new developer. We are happy with the progress that has been made but there is still a lot more work to do before these major site updates (see below) are ready for the production environment.
Progress: 60%. Development focus for the next 12 weeks.
- 3D Interface
Yup! We are building a 3D UI! Let’s just say you will feel like you are in a real casino when you are playing. We believe our players will really like the direction in which we are going with this. We are working on adding a bit more fun into the platform for our players as we look to captivate our audience with a new interactive and 3D UI. We will still offer the ‘retro’ UI for those players not concerned about seeing fancy graphics during game-play, but the new 3D interface we are building is looking great and we can’t wait to share it with the world when we are ready.
Progress 60%. Development focus for the next 12 weeks.
Q4 2017. Off the back of the improvements outlined above we will begin advertising, however with the level of interest in the platform we are already seeing (145,000 ether wagered) we don’t see this as our #1 priority or problem right now. Before we scale up we need to make the improvements to the platform outlined above before we engage new customers from Bitcoin, etc. We also consider PoS to be the final piece of the puzzle for us in which our players can experience dice results in <5 seconds. PoS would see a push from us in regards to advertising, however we don’t want to be forgotten in the meantime either, so there will be efforts in these regards leading up to PoS. Banner campaigns, press-releases and the like are on the cards but in the meantime, development improvements still receive priority.
The Etheroll bankroll has just increased by 2500 ether to a massive 5000+ ether. We will continue to up the ante as time moves forward. The maximum profit on any one dice roll is now a huge 50+ ether. Let’s roll!
Due to a large number of pending transactions network-wide we are experiencing major delays in game processing times. All games will eventually be processed as network congestion clears. Thank you for your patience.
