4th Rewards Period Is Now Closed. ÐICE Tokens Unlocked.

We are very pleased to announce that the 4th rewards period for Etheroll has been a great success with just under 374 ether claimed by our valued token holders over the past 7 days.

ÐICE are now unlocked and available for transfer as per normal.

A total of 59~ ether remained unclaimed at the end of the rewards period. We hope those that did not claim their rewards this period will claim during the next period, which opens 12 weeks from today on August 6, 2018. Make sure to save the date in your calendar to ensure you can participate in the next round.

Unclaimed rewards from this epoch were transferred back into the bankroll. A total of 59~ ether remained unclaimed which has allowed us to top up the bankroll in preparation for a pro-rata distribution in quarter 5.

If you attempted ÐICE transfers during the lock period which were unsuccessful due to the lock period, you can now attempt those transactions again in order to move your ÐICE from one address to another.

A big thank you for your support and participation in helping us reach an important milestone, our first full financial year at Etheroll. Let’s roll!

Q4 Rewards

433 ether was moved from the game contract into the treasury holding account in preparation for next weeks 100% distribution to ÐICE token holders. ÐICE tokens will be locked and non-transferable during the rewards period.

We look forward to next week being a successful rewards phase and we would like to extend a big thank you to all of the supporters in the community that have helped make this a successful end to the very first financial year for Etheroll. In the first 4 quarters of operation Etheroll will have paid out a total of 2,963 ether to ÐICE token holders.

What an amazing quarter it has been for Etheroll. Not only did we release our new UI, but we also saw the bankroll in a major tug-of-war early on in the quarter and we all watched in awe as it climbed out of a large deficit which at one point was over 800 ether (at a time when Ether was valued at over $1000 USD).

We are now closing out the quarter with a very healthy 433 ether in profit. In the same quarter we have seen some absolute huge winners walk away from Etheroll with insane amounts of ether. Congratulations of course go to our biggest winners this quarter. We are all looking forward to seeing more of the same thrilling action being played out on Etheroll in the next quarter!

Let’s roll!

IMPORTANT: During the 1 week lock period you will not be able to transfer ÐICE tokens. If you attempt to transfer ÐICE tokens during the lock period you will need to perform the transfer again after the lock period ends in order to move your tokens.

Today we are proud to announce the release of our new UI

Since launching 12 months ago (to the day) Etheroll has seen over 357,500 ether wagered on more than 290,500 individual games. In that time we have run 3 successful reward periods paying out in excess of 2,500 ether to our valued DICE token holders. As we move further into 2018 Etheroll continues to be focused and determined to build on its accomplishments and one of the big ticket items for us (and our players) was a re-design of our UI/UX and branding.

Today we are proud to announce the official release of our new UI.

Awesome! So what’s new? Take a look for yourself at etheroll.com and read on…

In re-visiting the look and feel of our classic platform we have taken on-board the comments and emails we received from our players. We have a user-centric design philosophy at Etheroll. We believe our users experience should feel effortless and seamless. The user should not have to think about how to use our product.

One of the difficult things to achieve with online dice games, (as opposed to a blackjack game for example) is that one cannot lean on skeuomorphism to lead design decisions. There is no traditional dice game in a casino that we can borrow and translate into a digital format that the user can immediately identify with. As such, we decided to take a good look at our current layout (which functioned very well) and focus on the problems areas that were identified to us via the feedback we have received over the past ~12 months.

Problem areas identified in our previous designs:

  1.  Players were unsure after ‘rolling’ that a bet had initiated. There was no visual feedback to the player that a game had been initiated.
  2. Users were annoyed they had to click away from the main game screen to see recent results.
  3. Sometimes results were duplicated causing confusion to the player.
  4. The color scheme was too contrasting which some players found to be painful to the eye particularly after a long gaming session.
  5. The site generally lacked a professional modern look/feel that would sit nicely and in-line with cutting edge technology such as Ethereum.
  6. The site lacked a trollbox (to be bolted on – a work in progress).

Introducing the New and Improved Desktop UI

Homepage
A tessellated background animates softly in the background with varying shades of color, depth and size. Total bets and an introduction into Etheroll is visible, alongside the actual game on the homepage. The tessellated background is cleverly built in a way which won’t have a negative effect even on mobile users. Neat!

Play Now
Results are now clearly visible on this page. The user can choose to see ‘All results’ or ‘Your results’ by flicking the tab at the top right of the results columns. We made a few adjustments in the actual build of this page. For example, results are now spread across the entire 2 columns. Upon clicking roll the tessellated background becomes slightly more animated to illustrate that a game is now in progress.

Awaiting Result
There is now a clear separation between selecting your number and submitting a bet and awaiting/seeing results. The primary focus of this page is now your target (the number you are trying to roll below) with all the clutter from the ‘Play Now’ removed from the screen. This ensures the player knows exactly what is happening and where they are at in the process of finalizing their game.

Result
The result page is now more succinct in communicating to the user that a result is in. We achieved this by beefing up the size of the result number as well as animating the tessellated background various shades of colors that correspond to a result. For instance on a player win the tessellated background shows green shades and on a house win red shades are shown to the players. We are happy to announce that we also resolved a major bug from the previous version on this page which would sometimes display the same result twice, causing confusion to the player.

Secondary Pages
The game is now playable from any page on the site. Upon a player submitting a bet from any secondary page, the left hand side displays game play whilst the user can continue to browse and read right hand side content. Upon receiving a result players are be able to click through to the results page from the left hand side.

Main Navigation
The main navigation has been rolled into the header and displays as a hovered menu item over the main content area. Even though the site acts as a ‘one-pager’ and there are no actual page reloads, URLs are bookmarkable and accessible directly via their respective page names. The result is a ‘snappier’ experience for the user.

Dedicated Mobile UI/UX (work in progress)

Today we are pleased to deliver on the desktop version of our platform. Whilst you can play Etheroll on an Ethereum based mobile browser today such as Toshi (the experience is not seamless, yet), we still have work to do in the mobile space and that is exactly what we are working on to deliver next.

Ethereum based mobile browsers are starting to show up in the real world and we believe our updated mobile version is going to be a perfect fit for the player on the move.

You can grab a sneak peak of our new mobile experience here.

Play Now
Two large wheels that the player activates via touch scroll to select an amount to wager and percentage chance to win options. The large roll button at the bottom of the page is large and easy to click for the mobile player. The revised mobile layout removes a lot of the small form components which the player may have found difficult to navigate on a mobile.

If the player would prefer to manually enter numbers they can click the wheels and manually input their game settings via the keyboard.

Awaiting Result
With all the clutter from the ‘Play Now’ removed from the screen the player knows exactly what is happening and where they are at in the process of finalizing their game.

Result
Result number is displayed below the target number and the animating tessellated background changes to various shades of colors that will correspond to the result. On a player win the tessellated background displays green shades and on a house win red shades are displayed to the player.

Classic
For those players that would prefer the old layout, don’t worry we have you covered – we will continue to host the classic layout at classic.etheroll.com so that you can still play using the classic retro layout – never to be forgotten.

We would love to hear in the comments section what you think of the new designs/layouts so don’t be shy and take a look at our updated platform today at etheroll.com and let us know what you think with a comment below.

Let’s roll!
